Medieval Crown or Coronal. Fourteenth century. Possibly German
or North European. This type of crown was made by joining identical
segments together. Because of this method of construction only certain
variations of size
are possible, but to overcome this and also to provide
a comfortable fit, a padded band would have been stuck to the inside.
This coronal is currently available in two sizes: nine segments (55cm
circumference) and ten segments (61cm). The gold plated segments
are topped by fleurons and the extensive decoration is complemented
by synthetic pearls and a large carnelian cabochon. These coronals are
only made to order and six weeks must be allowed from the time of
ordering.
Price £90.00 (nine segments). £100.00
(ten segments).
